Site History

Parcel 68-44, a 3.1-acre undeveloped site on Lowell Street in Lexington, was gifted to the town by the Commonwealth in 1978 for municipal purposes. In 2024, Town Meeting overwhelmingly voted to authorize the Select Board to dispose of Parcel 68-44 for 100% affordable housing, to help create a diversity of housing regardless of income and lifestage. The Select Board through the Lexington Affordable Housing Trust issued a Request for Proposals. Causeway Development was chosen for its expertise in sustainable, community-oriented projects and the proposal’s consistency with Lexington’s vision for inclusive, environmentally responsible housing, bringing much-needed affordable homes while preserving the site’s natural character.
